A Birthday of Hope, Strength, and Second Chances

Some celebrations become meaningful not because of the occasion itself, but because of the lives they touch.

As part of her birthday celebration, Joy Frances Inocencio, Founder of The Joyful Giver®, joined fellow volunteers in visiting the women of the Davao City Female Jail. Together, they shared meals, distributed care packages, and spent time encouraging women who are working toward rebuilding their lives with hope and dignity.

The visit was made even more meaningful through the inspiring work of Ma'am Stella Estremera, whose unwavering dedication has brought comfort, encouragement, and wellness programs to the women through her regular visits. Her commitment has become a source of hope for many, reminding them that every person deserves compassion, respect, and the opportunity to begin again.

Throughout the visit, the women shared stories of resilience, perseverance, and hope for the future. Despite the challenges they face, their determination to rebuild their lives left a lasting impression on everyone present. Their courage served as a powerful reminder that a person's past does not define their future.

During the gathering, Joy shared her commitment to supporting opportunities for rehabilitation and reintegration. She expressed her hope that when these women are ready to begin a new chapter, they will have opportunities to rebuild their lives with dignity through meaningful employment and community service. Their response was deeply moving. Many expressed their desire to return one day, not as former inmates defined by their past, but as volunteers committed to serving others through initiatives such as the Healing Hearts Bears Project and The Joyful Giver®.

The project became more than a simple outreach activity. It became a celebration of hope, human dignity, and the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to begin again.

The Joyful Giver® extends its sincere gratitude to JSUPT Ericley Louise D. Lazaro of PNPA Class 2004, whose warm welcome and support helped make this meaningful visit possible. We are equally grateful to every volunteer, partner, and supporter whose generosity allowed this project to bring encouragement and hope to the women of the Davao City Female Jail.

Together, we continue to believe that compassion can restore hope, strengthen lives, and open the door to new beginnings. Every act of kindness has the power to create lasting impact.

With gratitude,

The Joyful Giver®
