HOPE IN ACTION: Uplifting Boystown Through Compassion and Care

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow in an environment where they feel safe, valued, and supported. For the young boys of Boystown in Marikina, that journey often begins with knowing that people believe in their future.

Through a collaborative outreach led by The Joyful Giver®, the Rotary Club of Makati Primea, and the 11th Civil Military Operations Kaugnayan Battalion of the Philippine Army, we had the privilege of spending time with the boys of Boystown, sharing meals, essential supplies, and meaningful moments of encouragement.

Boystown provides care and guidance to boys who have experienced difficult circumstances early in life. While their stories are different, they all share one thing in common: the hope of building a brighter future. Beyond meeting their immediate needs, this outreach sought to remind them that they are seen, valued, and supported by a community that believes in their potential.

One of the most inspiring aspects of the project was witnessing the compassion demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Gene R. Orense and the officers of the 11th Civil Military Operations Kaugnayan Battalion. Their presence reflected a powerful example of servant leadership, showing that true leadership is measured not only by strength, but also by empathy, service, and genuine care for others.

The outreach was about more than providing meals and supplies. It created opportunities for conversation, encouragement, and connection. Sometimes, a few words of affirmation, a shared smile, or simply spending time with a child can become a lasting reminder that they are not alone and that their future is filled with possibilities.

As part of our continuing commitment to the well being of the boys, The Joyful Giver®, together with Rafa Prana Holistic Wellness and the Pranic Healing Association of the Philippines, also introduced holistic wellness activities designed to encourage relaxation, emotional well being, and inner resilience. These sessions complemented the outreach by promoting hope, confidence, and positive personal growth.
